First Aid Academy Ltd is a family-run business, established in 2008. Two of its three directors are active advanced first-aid trainers and the third is the administration manager who manages the staff team.

 

• The CEO, Alan, is a qualified teacher with a particular interest in outdoor education holding numerous outdoor leadership and coaching qualifications.
• Margaret is our director of training; She also works with several police forces in the Northwest, teaching serving front-line police officers first aid skills and practice.
• Katherine has recently joined the company as administration director and exams officer.

All our additional trainers are qualified first-aid trainers selected for their skills and knowledge; they follow our interactive, multi-sensory teaching style.

 

First aid training

First Aid Academy Ltd works closely with the OfQual-approved Awarding Organisation, Qualifications Network UK Ltd (QNUK). We deliver regulated first-aid courses.

• that meet the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive for the provision of first aid in the workplace.

 

Using an OfQual-approved Awarding Organisation means

• We have an internal verification process on the standards of training and assessment.
• Our Awarding Organisation is responsible for regular inspections of the quality and assessment processes, almost like an OFSTED inspection in schools.

 

Our delivery

We aim to make the training on courses as interactive as possible, with

• approximately 70% of a course being practical. We can modify delivery and interaction to meet a candidate's needs.
• Participants must be able to kneel on the floor to place a casualty in the recovery position and perform simulated CPR using a manikin placed on the floor.

Our regulated courses include the full suite of Health and Safety at Work courses.

• Emergency First Aid at Work,
• First Aid at Work.
• Paediatric First Aid
• Forest Schools First Aid for those working with younger children.
• Outdoor First Aid courses for remote workers or those working in the outdoor industry,
• For those working in Forestry settings, we also run the +F courses.

Where clients have a water environment in their location, such as swimming pools and boating lakes our courses will include drowning casualty CPR equally, where clients will have children onsite child CPR is included in courses.
