Scope
Attracting hundreds of patrons to the site every year means that the team at Waveney River Centre encounters a diverse host of holiday seekers, with a wide range of needs. One such need that is gaining frequent popularity is EV charging. As such, Tingdene have reached out to Rolec and Wattif V to facilitate an upgrade of their offering to also include chargepoint access to holiday goers and visitors to the site.
With onsite parking able to accommodate over 150 vehicles at any time, the team at Tingdene Lifestyle were looking for an initial trial of 4 visitor chargepoints through a flexible funding scheme, with the capacity to upgrade to meet demand over a period of multiple years.
Due to the current electrical capacity on the site, they also required a solution that included parameters for effective load management. Furthermore, the team at Tingdene wanted to prioritise the user experience, requesting local lighting facilities to make the charging network both more visible and safer for visitors.
Solution
Waverley River Centre opted for an initial install of two 22kW Quantum dual socketed pedestals, generating charging for 4 visitors. Due to the elegant design of the units, they were able to maintain the luxury feel of the site whilst also providing a sophisticated charging experience to their guests. Including in-built LED lighting to meet their initial brief.
Installation and commissioning of the units was completed within a week from initial site access, without any disruption to the day-to-day operations. Once installed, the network was onboarded to the client to ensure a fully seamless handover, meaning the units would be open to users in a timely manner.
As for their desire for a flexible funding solution, Tingdene opted to embark on a joint venture solution for a multi-year managed EVC service through Wattif. Design, installation, commissioning, service and maintenance (including 24/7 user helpline and load management services) was included in the package. As well as Wattif’s management of tariffs, pricing and user registration (for both mobile APP and RFID). As part of the multi-year solution, Wattif would also manage the life cycle of the units, from design to future expansion.
Benefit
The provision of charge points not only provides a service to their guests, it also attracts drivers from the neighbouring area to use the River Centre’s facilities. Providing the site with an additional means of generating passive revenue, as well as enriching the local area by encouraging more EV drivers to explore what Norfolk has to offer.
The 4 Rolec chargepoints provide the site with sophisticated on-site visitor parking, as well as a services programme to operate, manage and maintain these chargers with a further roll-out programme through Wattif to meet the increasing demand of EV charging.
Wattif’s back-end solution also provides load management as well as demand reporting and operation features including tariff, user management, and the 24/7 support for users – allowing Waveney River Centre to concentrate on what they do best, providing an unforgettable experience for all visitors to the hotel, restaurant, bar, and leisure park.
